One of the updates that I wanted to do was to install a water filter for our drinking water. I thought that would be good to have as we would be going through some areas where the water content could be considered “questionable” as to how well it was filtered. I had looked at just some simple type of filter like people have at home under their sinks. I had also looked at the more expensive marine systems like the Seagull filter. While at the 2022 fall Annapolis boat show I visited a few booths to check out filter systems. We found a cheaper product line that General Ecology makes called “Nature Pure”. I decide to go with that product for installing in Sundog. We purchased the unit right at the boat show to take advantage of a boat show special. I bought parts that I would need Fawcett boat supplies in Annapolis so I would have all that I needed once I had a chance to do the installation..
While we were hauled out in Belhaven for our prop shaft replacement I took the time to perform the install. Like all boat projects this started with first an exploration of where to install the various parts and to figure out what tools I would need. And of course the usual second step of another trip to the store to buy more tools and parts. In this case I had to purchase another hole saw bit for the faucet hole.
I determined that I could drill in the corner of the sink to place the faucet so that we would have it right at the sink for filling pots, drink bottles, etc.
I was able to mark and drill the location for the faucet using a template. I went half way to check the hole and placement before completing the hole.

For fastening the faucet to the sink I need to cut a small block of marine plywood to place under the sink for a smooth surface.

For the water filter location I choose to fasten it against the side wall of the small drawer unit. By placing it there I could open the tall door (used to get at the sink thru-hull) and be able to reach the filter for changing it or removal in the off season.

A view of the faucet after the install was complete.
