362 days… companion way doors and motor mount

Today I worked on the two wood working projects that I want to get ready for end of this season.

The companion way doors needed some more sanding along edges to allow an easy swing open and closed. As well the top angled edge needed more for the hatch cover to go over top with lifting. These were done at home so hopefully when I am down this weekend it will be a simple test to confirm that all is good for fit. I still need to finalize the cut out in the doors for screen and plastic covers for rainy cold days.

The other project I worked on was the motor mount. I went ahead with cutting wood based upon the template I had worked out on the weekend. The groove cut for the rail tube was done with a combination of router bits to get a rough cut. Then using sand paper wrapped around a 1″ circular grinding/polishing bit. Slow going but based upon a test fit of a 1″ pipe I had at home this should work. I will again check the fit when at the boat for confirmation. I also need to get the necessary bolts and nuts I need for fastening the pieces all together.
